On February 1st, 2020, after 47 years of British membership with the European Union (EU), this membership ended as a result of Brexit. With it the rules for shipping commercially sold goods between the UK and EU were about to change. After a transition period of one year, these changes came into effect on January 1st, 2021.
From that moment on every commercially sold goods from the EU to the UK no longer have a European VAT applied and are to be considered as a regular worldwide shipping. However the British VAT could be applied, but this depends on the product value from your order whether the British VAT is included or not.
With reference to the official information on GOV.UK, the following rules apply when shipping orders to the UK:
For orders with a product value over £135 (~€160), the British VAT is the responsibility of the buyer - i.e. the customer (you). In this case (British) VAT will be shifted, which will show up on your order. Your order will then be handled as a regular non-EU order, which means that costs for importing and VAT will be charged to you by your local Customs (HMRC) - either directly or via the shipping company.
Any order with a product value of £135 (~€160) and lower, the British VAT is the responsibility of the seller - i.e. the webshop (us).
In this case (British) VAT will applied, which will show up on your order.
Also note the following information from PostNL for shipping to the UK (post Brexit):
"As of 1 January 2021, shipments to the United Kingdom will have a longer transmission time than you are used to. This is because shipments to the UK will need to pass through customs. On average, shipments to the UK take 7 days to arrive and customs clearance can take from 1-4 weeks."
In any case, we always keep an eye out to your shipment as well.
